Explore the Al Hoota Cave
Estimated to be over 2 million-years-old, Al Hoota Cave is located at
the foot of Jabal Shams. It is the first and only show cave in the Arabian Peninsula. Just 500 metres of its 4.5 kilometres are accessible to the general public.
Al Hoota Cave contains a rich ecosystem with four lakes that hold about 30,000 m3 of water. Spot the rare blind fish Garra Barreimiae more commonly known as Bu Naseh or many of the other animal species living in the cave, including bats (Rhinopoma Muscatellum), arthropods, mollusks, spiders, snails, and water beetles. For an extended experience, continue on to Managkher and the picturesque village of Al Ayn, stopping for a picnic lunch overlooking the magnificent views.
