Cluster of islands in Raja Ampat

Raja Ampat Bay

Duration

7 Days/6 Night Journey

Experience

Raja Ampat translated means “four kings,” referring to the islands Salawati, Batanta, Waigeo and Misool. Located on the north-western tip of New Guinea, this region comprises about 610 islands spread over 50,000 sq km of spectacular scenery, including the remote islands of Misool, home to a scenic range of majestic limestone mountains with dramatic cliffs and craggy spires. The above-water beauty is no less stunning – dense tropical forests, unique flora, astounding rock formations, and an amazing array of birds and wildlife. This is ideal for the adventurous at heart seeking an Indonesian yacht to charter and sail through the Raja Ampat waters; stopping for diving, island treks and picnics on quiet beaches promise an experience you won’t soon forget. The Alila Purnama Expedition combines visits to diverse places such as local fishing villages, the bird of paradise’s secret spots, jungle caves, speedboat rides in remote untouched regions and much more.

Itinerary

  • Day 1: Sorong

From Bali, Manado, Jakarta or Ambon, you will arrive at Sorong where you will be met by the Alila Purnama crew and be transferred by car and speedboat to the vessel. Once on board, your voyage to relaxation begins. Following a general briefing by the Cruise Director to familiarise you with the vessel and its safety procedures, we cast off and cruise into the Dampier Strait.

  • Day 2: Kri

Our first destination will be Kri, a small island just east of Mansuar Island. Here you will enjoy your first experience of Raja Ampat: white-sand beaches, clear waters and iridescent reefs against a backdrop of dense rainforest. For those interested in diving can opt for an afternoon check-dive. We will then sail until we reach Gam Island giving you plenty of time to ease into life on board Alila Purnama. Come evening, savour the combination of an extraordinary dinner and the incredible views around you. We will spend the night at anchor, lulled by the ripples of the sea and the calming tranquility.

  • Day 3: Gam Island

Wake up to your first daylight view of Gam Island before you. After breakfast, choose from exhilarating activities such as snorkeling or diving to discover the incredible corals and fish life of the Raja Ampat region. Or, if you prefer, you can stay onboard and luxuriate with a pampering spa treatment. Come afternoon, we’ll explore the other side of Gam Island, where more activities await. By evening, we’ll set sail northwards, cruising through the night and crossing the Equator, towards Wayag Island.

  • Day 4: Wayag Island

Enjoy a beautiful day in the Northern Hemisphere. Take in the wonderful views from your cabin of clear blue water and tiny sun-kissed islands surrounding the Alila Purnama. Take your pick from an array of different activities or simply relax on a stretch of private white-sand beach. In the evening, revel in the romance of dining outdoors under the stars with a beachside barbeque before we set sail southwards towards Waigeo Island.

  • Day 5 Waigeo Island

Today begins in Sel Pele Bay located on the western side of Waigeo Island, renowned as the best place in Raja Ampat for critter hunting. In addition to the stunning underwater world, you will get to enjoy sighting the rich animal and birdlife in the area as well as a host of other activities planned, including a fascinating visit to the Atlas South Sea Pearl Farm in the island’s Aljuy Bay, to learn about the process of pearl cultivation and harvesting.

  • Day 6: Jef Fam

Wake up at Jef Fam Island, a marvelous place to enjoy a myriad of activities like sea kayaking, diving, snorkeling and trekking. In the afternoon, the crew will whisk you off in the speedboat for an exciting cruise around the island, a thrilling way to observe small natural pools uniquely created by rocks and discover rare orchids. Enjoy another beautiful sundown experience over a gourmet dinner prepared by our executive chef, a perfect ending to the day.

  • Day 7: Mansuar Island

Come morning, another day of new discovery awaits at Mansuar Island. With the morning tide, enjoy snorkeling and diving in waters where turtle and visiting manta ray encounters are common. In the afternoon, the crew will escort you on shore to visit a local village – a chance to meet with islanders and learn about the local way of life. Later in the afternoon, enjoy cocktails on board as we begin cruising towards Sorong.
