The nominees were chosen through an exhaustive process from over 1600 entries, representing some 600+ projects in 87 countries, assessed by 64 judges.
The awards ceremony, held at Ham Yard Hotel, celebrated the most beautiful, innovative and exciting hotels to open around the world with the results announced simultaneously in London and New York.
Doris Goh, Head of Brands and Marketing for Alila ASPAC comments, ‘it is an honour for Alila and a proud moment for China in recognition of its homegrown architectural and design talents. The reimagination of Alila Yangshuo is a testament to Dong Gong of Vector Architects and interior designer Ju Bin of Horizontal Space Design, who have beautifully blended the old with the new while respecting its historical bearing and paying homage to its incredible landscape to create such a magical destination.’
Alila Yangshuo, which opened in October 2017, was once a working sugar mill and has been transformed into a modern, retro resort with 117 rooms, suites, and villas combining stylish simplicity with exceptional comfort and convenience.
