ALILA SEMINYAK PRESENTS LIVE ART AT THE RESTAURANT
Every Thursday & Friday, 7.00pm - 9.00pm
30 September – 28 October 2016
29 September 2016
In a collaboration with Nyaman Gallery, Alila Seminyak presents a weekly series of 'Live Art' evenings at The Restaurant, inspired by an appreciation of fine food and fine art.
The event brings together an eclectic mix of Indonesian and Bali-based artists represented by Nyaman Gallery in Seminyak. Each week, a different artist will preside to work and complete an original painting over Thursday and Friday evenings, which will then be displayed in the resort lobby. Taking place in the restaurant, diners will be able to watch the canvas come alive in a variety of styles and mediums, from tribal and spiritual influences to surrealism, street style and more, providing an exciting visual accompaniment to their meal.
The Live Art series will culminate on Friday, 28 October 2016 with an Artisanal Night, featuring a cocktail party at the Beach Bar, with invited guests to witness the grand finale of the final art piece being completed. The evening's highlight will be a live auction of all the artwork created throughout the series.
The diverse line-up of featured artists includes:
YOKII : 30 Sept - 1 Oct
YOKII is known for his aggressive experimentation with a wide variety of materials – from fabrics to recycled plywood – used to create garments, prints and other art forms. He takes on the most challenging of mediums through his mastery of varied techniques for applying paint or print to sundry surfaces. Together with his partner and fellow artist Bunny Bone, YOKII recently created a striking 9-metre wall piece for a VIP lounge at the Domestic Departure Terminal at Ngurah Rai International Airport, Bali.
Lukman Fauzi : 6 - 7 Oct
Hailing from Probolinggo, East Java, Fauzi’s paintings take us deep into his fantasy world, creating surreal shapes and stories depicting everyday objects such as glass bottles, candles and eggs. Fine lines and a palette of blacks, whites and greys create tumultuous yet calming images.
Bunny Bone : 13 - 14 Oct
A young, self-taught artist, Bunny Bone has rapidly blossomed and gained widespread attention in the last three years. Her artwork captures both the soft and wild as well as the fragile and elusively exotic sides of femininity. Inspired by collaborations with her partner YOKII, Bunny Bone has begun exploring drawing on a much larger scale.
Shaolen : 20 - 21 Oct
Shaolen is of French Indonesian origin. During a time of reconnecting with her ancestry, her artwork took on a tribal and spiritual form inspired by dreams and visions of tribes and spirit warriors. Shaolen has worked with artists and musicians from all over the world, her journey seemingly led her back in time to connect with the very depths of her past but cemented heavily in the now.
Quint : 27 - 28 Oct
Quint’s street art has fascinated passers-by along the back alleys of Kuta, the bustling streets of Seminyak and the far corners of Canggu and Ubud. His signature maidens on canvas each carry a message of love and feature monochromatic, feminine figures flashing witty gestures.
