Food and music are perfect complements to each other, appealing to all the senses. Alila Manggis presents this perfect pairing in "Manggis Jazz Beats", a new dining and entertainment event at Seasalt restaurant where guests can enjoy live performances by some of Indonesia’s most talented jazz musicians while savouring a mouthwatering Asian inspired tapas style selection. Taking to the stage in August and September will be Astrid Sulaiman’s jazz trio. Jakarta-born piano player Astrid Sulaiman trained in classical music disciplines at Yayasan Pendidikan Musik before discovering that jazz was the way to express her musical needs, taking lessons with such masters as Andi Wiriantono, Arya and Rio Moreno. Since then, she has performed in numerous local and international jazz events. Astrid currently resides in Bali, performing at major venues on the island. She is also one of the head organisers of the Ubud Village Jazz Festival, an international jazz festival in Bali.

Opening hours : Daily, 6.00pm - 11.00pm

Unwind to the soothing sound of waves lapping on the shore at the Ocean Bar, an al fresco lounge and bar set up by the sea – the perfect spot for enjoying the sunset with a pre-dinner aperitivo, or chilling the night away under the stars. Guests can choose from a wide selection of classic and creative signature selections, including cold-pressed juices, local ingredient infusions, wines, spirits, and playful cocktail and mocktail presentations, accompanied by resident chef Ridwan Rachmad’s delicious snack creations.

Bringing the culinary aspect of these events to life so deliciously is the resort’s Executive Chef Ridwan, who arrived on the tranquil shores of East Bali from the bustling city of Jakarta, where he was most recently Executive Sous Chef of Keraton at The Plaza (Starwood Luxury Collection), crafting premium quality ingredients into seasonal menus showcasing modern European cuisine. Chef Ridwan’s skills encompass a broad range of culinary styles including Italian, French, Japanese and pan-Asian fusion, as well as molecular gastronomy. At Alila Manggis, he has embraced the sustainable philosophy, complementing his repertoire of authentic Balinese dishes with classic Western dishes crafted around a garden-to-table concept, utilising produce harvested from the resort’s organic garden.
