Happy 10th Birthday to Alila Hotels & Resorts
02 June 2011
Leading Asia-Pacific hotel brand celebrates a decade of innovation”. Future expansion plans include first foray into Europe and the Middle East. Leading Asia-Pacific hotel brand, Alila Hotels & Resorts, is celebrating its tenth birthday this month as its first opening, Alila Jakarta, turns 10. Now comprising nine properties across Indonesia, India and South East Asia, and with a pipeline of exciting global developments ahead, Alila has gained international recognition for its contemporary and stylish resort design, clear commitment to sustainability and innovative destination experiences.
From its first beginnings in Indonesia, Alila has expanded its ‘surprisingly different’ brand of hospitality creating two distinct collections within the group – Alila, the lifestyle hotel and resort brand characterised by innovative design and destination experiences and Alila Villas, a newly conceived super-luxe sub-brand. The launch of Alila Villas Uluwatu in 2009 and Alila Villas Soori in Bali last year represented the birth of a new generation of exclusive timeless properties, already winning countless awards and setting world-class standards for design, sustainable architecture and spectacular locations.
Alila’s 10th anniversary is marked by the addition of two new properties to the portfolio with this month’s opening of Alila Bangalore, the city’s first business lifestyle hotel.
As it enters its second decade Alila enters a new phase of development, with a wealth of new pipeline openings set to double the size of the portfolio by 2014.
Future expansion will include Alila’s first foray into Europe with the opening of Alila Roncão in the Alentejo region east of Lisbon, an area famed for its wineries, olive oil and stunning landscapes. New resorts are also under development in Oman as Alila’s first venture into the Middle East. These include an exciting new beach resort in Salalah, a property in the stunning mountain region of Jebel Akhdar and an Alila Villas in the remote peninsula of Musandam.
Elsewhere further developments are earmarked for China as well as further expansion in Indonesia.
Mark Edleson, President commented “We are delighted to be celebrating a successful 10 years in the industry and look forward to an exciting future ahead. Throughout our growth
we have never swayed from our brand promise to deliver complete destination experiences and an intellectual and sustainable approach to tourism in support of the local communities in which we reside and we will remain true to this approach as we develop the Alila brand in the decades to come.
We hope that our clear commitment to sustainability and innovation, and our passion for providing authentic and memorable travel experiences for our guests, become a benchmark for global hospitality as Alila expands into new regions.”
As the Alila portfolio grows so does Spa Alila, with the addition of a new spa at Alila Diwa Goa earlier this year set to be followed by spas at Alila Bangalore in 2012. The home-grown brand conceived in Bali uses only indigenous plants, fruits, herbs and spices with a ‘His and Hers collection’ for the Alila Villas brand and ‘Essence’ range for the Alila Resorts providing a range of unique all-natural signature scents. The recent launch of an Alila Living range of products is designed to allow guests to continue their Spa Alila experiences at home.
From becoming the first hotelier in Bali to meet the rigorous Earthcheck Building, Planning and Design Standards with the launch of Alila Villas Uluwatu, to receiving the accolade of Best New Hotel in India for the launch of Alila Diwa Goa this month, Alila is firmly establishing its place as one to watch as it celebrates its landmark anniversary.
