What People Say

I was blown away by the sight of a picturesque green valley covered in lush topical vegetation. I learned later that Alila Ubud sits high up on the edge of the Ayung River valley. I was distracted by the infinity pool. I felt I had seen this pool before! Then it struck me, I had seen it featured in several online lists of top 25 infinity pools in the world.

We care for good food, food that incorportes local traditions, recipes that has been passed on for hundred years and healthy food that is local.

The infinity pool is suspended over the jungle high above the Ayung river below. The view stretch endlessly into Bali’s lush tropical rainforest.

Our Terrace Tree Villa, overlooking the verdant valley. The best seat in the house is in the pool-sized bathtub, from where I watched the monkeys swing athletically from branch to branch only metres away as I soaked. We had an early morning appointment with the hotel chef at traditional market in preparation for an outdoor cookery class. The market was an explosion of colour and we ate as much as we bought as chef taught us how to identify exotic fruits such as red lychee-esque rambutans and bright olive-shaped tamarillos.

The centrepiece is a stunning tongue of pool jutting out like a high-dive board over the Ayung gorge. The Alila is serene and professional with a laid-back ambience. There are 54 rooms set in separate two-storey arrangements on stilts, looking out over the valley.

The reflective swimming pool at this secluded hillside retreat - a fusion of modern and traditional design that blends thatched roofs with clean, concrete lines - seems to float above the deep Ayung River valley below.

My Husband and me were there for 3 Days for a part of our Honeymoon trip. It was a great experience, the location is beyond beautiful, the Hotel is incredible, and lets not speak about the amazing infinity pool that blends in with the colours of the nature surrounding it. We stayed at a Villa room, I miss that bathtub inside of a small pond, that was so cool and the views from your bed are priceless. The staff were amazing, very friendly and always with a smile on their faces, they are also very helpful. Last point to mention, the food is so tasty and good, it felt great not having to worry of what to cook tonight myself grin We recommend Alila Ubud a 100% to visit.

This hotel was the first stop for our honeymoon in Bali and all I can say is that it was the perfect place to your relaxation after all the stresses of the wedding. The service was amazing, everyone was extremely friendly and always out to please and help you. Breakfast was always excellent and every morning it would be different. We were treated to a free taster lunch which was really nice, as well as a free rice paddy tour which was really interesting and fun. We stayed in a deluxe room which had an outside bathroom. The room was spacious and clean and very well organised. All in all I would recommend this hotel to anyone that needs to relax and get away from it all.

We spoiled ourselves here staying only 1 night during a 3-week vacation in Bali. Alila was (by far) our favourite stay, and well worth the expense. The infinity pool was bliss and the restaurant's food was incredible. Service was exceptional. We did the 2 hour rice paddy excursion and our Alila guide was fantastic, discussing a great deal about Balinese culture along the trek. The little extras were a welcome surprise, including delicious snacks poolside during afternoon tea as well as free poolside 5 minute shoulder massages. We both received 1 hour Balinese massages from Alila Spa which were amazing. Very highly recommend for a few night's stay.

My boyfriend and I stayed here for the first few nights upon out visit to Bali! Neither of us have visited Ubud before but after this we are keen to return and hopefully for longer next time. The staff were excellent, they went out of their way to make you feel welcome. This was particularly apparent upon arrival to the hotel, in comparison to other hotels I have stayed. After what seemed a long flight and journey traveling it was refreshing to be so warmly welcomed! We arrived in the early hours of the morning to the hotel but forgot to inform them of our early check in, however they were very accommodating and the room was ready straight away with no extra charge. The hotel grounds are beautiful, it is seriously a hidden gem. We thought the attention to detail was excellent, they offered a sit down (no buffet) style breakfast which was a pleasant change. The food is pricey but nothing more than other hotels I have stayed in. The hotel offers frequent shuttle busses to Ubud central so you can enjoy the dining experiences outside the hotel, I would recommend bridges for dinner. Stay here if you want a tranquil experience, much different to that of other areas of Bali.

My husband and I stayed here for the first 3 nights of our honeymoon, and what a wonderful place. We loved the tranquility which surrounded the whole complex. We stayed in the valley villa and it was definitely worth the upgrade for the view, the privacy and the beautiful lodge. The Balinese cuisine in the restaurant was excellent, the breakfasts extensive and cooked to order, and the service excellent. Not to forget the fantastic infinity pool overlooking the valley below.

Amazing views, amazing pool, amazing staff (thanks Yuni), amazing food & amazing service. We recommend that you experience this truly wonderful hotel. Even the local wildlife came to entertain you. You need not leave the hotel complex as every need is catered for. I even heard another guest comment the best massage she has ever had. So peaceful, relaxing, my only grumble is we did not book for a longer stay

I spent a holiday in Alila Ubud some time back and I remember it with pleasure... Excellent location, setting, peaceful and relaxing environment, comfortable rooms and one of the best swimming pools ever seen. Warm welcome, good local and international food, care of details, courtesy and excellent service. Great, Alila Ubud!

Alila Ubud is a beautiful setting with first rate accommodations. The welcome upon arrival was wonderful, really set the mood, greeting me by name, and providing very personal attention. I was traveling alone, so the attention was particularly important. Service was impeccable throughout my stay. Food was excellent, selections were very interesting and varied, the portions were abundant! The setting for the dining area is beautiful. The infinity pool speaks for itself...just look at the pictures. The shuttle to the town of Ubud was very convenient, and on time each time I used it. I highly recommend Alila Bali, and I am doing so to my friends who are planning to visit Ubud soon. I will definitely choose Alila for my next stay in Ubud.

We were greeted with warm smiles and personal introductions (who knew us by name). The resort amenities were well-maintained and very apt for a romantic getaway with your loved one, far from the maddening crowd. My then-boyfriend (now fiance) chose this fabulous resort for his marriage proposal. He liaised with the hotel staff to create a magnificent surprise for me at the 'sculpture garden'. I was led there to the 'sculpture garden' by one of the staff after my massage and there my fiance stood, lined with candles on the ground leading to a white tent where we had a romantic and delicious dinner - menu specially created by the Executive Chef. Food was of EXCEPTIONAL QUALITY - consistent throughout 4 days of our stay there. Beautiful pool, good food, warm and friendly staff, fresh air, clean and well-maintained hotel rooms/amenities = perfect stay at Alila!
