TTG Asia's editorial team tell you their best- and worst - interview, press conference, media trip or industry function they had in 2007.
Best: A for Alila - Most of the press events I attended were good, but I found the press launch of Alila Cha-Am most impressive. Alila Hotels and Resorts seems to employ people with the right work attitude. I have interviewed the hotel's group executives and they all gave me a similar good impression.

DestinAsian Luxe List
2006 |
"The
DestinAsian Luxe List 2006" chose
Kemang Icon by Alila as one of the regions'
best new hotels as places that rise
above the rest in terms of style, service
and surrounds...
"Unabashedly contemporary in a
city not known for pushing the style
envelope, Kemang Icon is a sleek urban
bolthole that offers an excellent alternative
to Jakarta's more staid five-star lodgings.
Design junkies will appreciate the 12
apartment-style suites, each replete
with granite, onyx, glass and wood,
as well as the latest mod-cons; plush
goose-down bedding offsets all the clean
lines. "

Alila Jakarta: When
Alila Jakarta opened in 2001, it was
the first for the capital. Most Indonesians
equate luxury with opulence and international
brands, so the understated style of
the hotel came as a surprise.
Behind an imposing grey concrete exterior
of two 27 storey towers lies a striking
modernity. Conceptualized by architect
Budiman Hendropurnomo of local firm
Denton Corker Marshall, first impressions
reveal strong geometric forms and an
efficient aesthetic. Black granite floors,
huge mirrors, clean-lined seating and
a giant contemporary artwork of colored
wood strips by Pieter Dietmar characterize
the lobby lounge… “
