Alila is Hot: Conde Nast Traveler Hot List 2010
26 April 2010

Three of Alila’s newest properties—Alila Villas Uluwatu, Alila Villas Hadahaa and Alila Diwa Goa are placed in the recently released Conde Nast Traveler USA Hot List Hotels 2010. Alila Villas Uluwatu further secured a placing in Conde Nast Traveller UK’s The Hot List 2010. The three luxurious Alila properties are amongst the 31 hotels in Asia on the prestigious USA Hot List. When it comes to the UK Hot List, Alila Villas Uluwatu is the only hotel in Indonesia and one of the 13 hotels in Asia that is being named. The annual Condé Nast Traveler USA and Conde Nast Traveller UK Hot Lists are renowned within the global travel media industry for their extensive reach and authoritative selection of the very best new hotels around the world. Apart from being the world’s foremost travel magazines, Condé Nast Traveler USA and UK are particularly noted for their editorial independence and impartiality. Alila Villas Uluwatu Condé Nast Traveller UK describes Alila Villas Uluwatu as proof that “Bali is back on track as a destination with cool hotels”, demonstrating that “designer luxury can reach yet another zenith”. Alila Villas Uluwatu’s landscaping and architectural forms were derived from the local Bali savannah-like environment without intruding on the wild natural surroundings. The resort’s villas are individually tiered along the naturally sloping terrain that maximizes the experience of clifftop resort living, where guests can enjoy the panoramic ocean view regardless of their villa’s location. In line with Alila’s vision of integrating commerce, conservation and community, Alila Villas Uluwatu aims to be as eco-conscious as possible. When it opened in June 2009, it was the first resort in Bali to meet the rigorous EarthCheck (formerly Green Globe) ‘Building, Planning and Design Standard’. “The public places and 84 villas spill across a hillside overlooking the ocean with an organic ease that makes the place feel like it's been there forever, and its smart eco-planning may let it stay there almost that long,” Condé Nast Traveler USA wrote. Alila Villas Hadahaa Opened in August 2009, Alila Villas Hadahaa is the first eco-luxe resort in the Gaafu Alifu (North Huvadhoo) Atoll in southern Maldives. The atoll is one of the largest natural atolls in the world, and the deepest in the Maldives. The resort which was also designed and built from scratch to EarthCheck’s (formerly Green Globe) ‘Building, Planning and Design Standard’, has its own five-star PADI diving and watersports centre. Guests will get to discover an unspoiled, spectacular underwater world of abundant and diverse marine life in the pristine southern Maldives without having to go on a liveaboard. “Tide pools teeming with starfish, an electric-blue lagoon filled with coral and a variety of tropical fish,” Condé Nast Traveller USA described. With Alila’s commitment to showcasing the local culture, travelers can in addition savor Maldivian cuisine for the first time ever in the Maldives at the resort’s Battuta’s restaurant. “The sand-floored Battuta's serves up spicy local fare (try the char-grilled chicken marinated in pomegranate molasses), while Relish offers a more Western-focused menu.” Alila Diwa Goa Alila Diwa Goa opened in December 2009 as the newest resort property Goa has seen in recent years. Sited in South Goa along the coast of the beautiful Majorda Beach, guests are gifted with views of vast verdant paddy fields leading out to endless stretches of soft white sand and the Arabian Sea. In the trademark Alila fashion, the resort blends contemporary Goan architecture with the magic of Goa’s cultural richness to create a stylish and relaxing stay environment that remains true to the destination. Condé Nast Traveler US wrote, “Dramatic lighting makes the outdoor setting, which includes an infinity pool with partially submerged recliners overlooking rice paddies and bamboo stands, even more magical at night.”
