The “Gift to Share” programme offers a complimentary night’s stay for every night booked at Alila Villas Soori as a gift to guests. Guests are encouraged to donate any amount of their choice to one of three select beneficiaries in Bali representing the following causes: 1) Social – East Bali Poverty Project; 2) Educational – financial aid for two neighboring elementary schools; 3) Environment – Bali Fokus.

Since 1999, the East Bali Poverty Project has established 6 schools in remote mountain villages where 350 children are provided with nutritious school meals and learn organic farming methods and creative arts. The East Bali Poverty Project also treats nutritional deficiencies for young children below the age of five, provides medical and dental outreach programmes as well as safe and clean drinking water for 19 sub-villages in East Bali. The East Bali Poverty Project’s efforts reach out to a total of 3,000 families living in abject poverty.

In the Tabanan Regency where Alila Villas Soori is located, two local schools urgently require educational materials, supplies and English and dance teachers for its students. Hiring these teachers would only cost US$500 annually, but it is a sum that the schools can ill-afford. The physical structures of both schools also require repairs to make it safer for the children.

Established in June 2000 by Indonesian environmental engineer Yuyun Ismawati together with four other colleagues, Bali Fokus is a non-governmental organization that voluntarily promotes and implements low-cost decentralized wastewater treatment, solid waste management and community sanitation programmes throughout Bali to protect the beauty of the island and increase the Balinese’s quality of life in a sustainable way.
