Our Responsibilities

Alila’s long-held vision is that commerce, conservation and community can and should be integrated. While creating opportunities for intimate cultural interactions for our guests with the people, cultures and natural beauty of each destination, we are dedicated to being responsible members of our host communities and treading lightly on our environment.

As part of our commitment to responsible tourism, we make it a priority to engage with local communities, remaining sensitive to their needs, respecting their traditions, and actively seeking ways in which our presence can contribute to the long-term sustainability of the local economy, culture and environment. This includes employing local people who live in the surrounding areas, developing the local workforce through skills training, using products and services from local suppliers, as well as educating our guests on local culture and traditions.

Gift to Share
Our newest hotels and resorts have embraced Alila’s spirit of giving back to the community through a “Gift-to-Share” programme, pledging to make donations to local causes with every booking. A community effort that encourages guests to give, this programme offers guests a non-pushy, no-obligations option to share the ‘Gift’ by allowing them to choose whichever amount they wish to donate in support of any of the local community endeavours that are initiated or selected by the hotel or resort.

Alila Villas Soori, for example, presented a complimentary night for every night booked and the opportunity to brighten the lives of those less fortunate in Indonesia. And Alila Diwa Goa donated INR 3,000 to the Fr. Basilio Andrade Memorial Higher Secondary School in Majorda for every booking of any of its three "Gift to Share" opening specials packages – Invigorate, Indulge and Involve. Contact Alila Diwa Goa to help us in providing better education and training for the students in the locality.

Our properties also regularly support or initiate projects that aim to improve quality of life and reduce poverty, particularly in rural areas, bringing real and lasting benefits to the community.
